Valentine's Day Coming

Julie over at Knitsational Knitsational: I Heart Giveaways is giving away the sweetest little Valentine set of washcloth, soap, ribbon and on and on. Click over a take a look at her blog. She will be doing the drawing on Feb. 2nd, so hurry!!

I don't have any plans to knit anything special for Valentine's Day, just trying to finish up some of my UFO's.

Ramblings

This picture was what inspired me to "blog" today. Thought we were crazy decorating poles, fences, etc.?? Go to this Telegraph article to read all about it.

What's On The Needle: I'm working on my first fingerless glove for the monthly KAL project at Pacific Fabrics. Just on the "scrunchie" cuff so far.

Also working on this Sweetheart baby hat found here. It will have valentine shapes over the ears and ties on it.

Then last, but not least, I'm still on the granddaughter's top-down raglan sweater. All I have left to do are the sleeves, but have to wait until I see her this weekend to see how long to make them. This being my very first sweater, it isn't beautiful, but I've learned a lot, and hopefully the 6-yr. old won't care if it's not perfect.

Slouchy Copy-Cat Hat

Well here it is - I really like it a lot better since I blocked it on a dinner plate - much more "slouch" to it. The free pattern can be found here.

Out of the Fog!

Here in our part of western Washington we've gone from way too much snow, way too cold, way too much rain, to today - SUNSHINE!!! Hard to believe how beautiful it is after weeks and weeks of the other stuff.

Well I finished my Slouchy Copy-Cat Hat and will post pictures when its done blocking. Also have worked quite a few more rounds on the top-down sweater for the granddaughter - still racing against time on this one (before she outgrows it or it's summer).

Go over to Michelle's blog here as she's celebrating her birthday tomorrow by having a contest for some beautiful prizes. The contest ends tomorrow night (Jan 19th) at midnight PST. Plus she writes a good blog. Happy Birthday, Michelle.

Work in Progress

Thought I'd update you on how I'm progressing on my UFO's. The slouchy hat is lots of fun to work on - looks like cables, but isn't. I also have again begun working on the sweater for my granddaughter. I need to get it done while it's still winter, and before she grows out of it. I finally got the raglan seam down sort of correctly, but I see holes here and there. Guess when I give it to her I'll tell my daughter it's strictly a sweater to wear casually and not for dressup - don't want anyone to see my mistakes. It is my first fitted garment and I'm learning a lot.

I got out and walked a short distance, the first exercising walking I've done in a long time due to a number of medical problems. It felt good, even though it was drizzling rain. Need to do more and more of it each day.

Slouchy Hat

Today was our knit-up meeting day at our local coffee shop and I needed something "portable" to work on, so I found this, a free slouchy hat pattern on Ravelry. It's a fun and fast knit. We had 7 gals at the meetup today and had a great time visiting, then another person dropped by about the time we were leaving. Hopefully she comes next time

The New Year

I've been reading other knitter's blogs for the New Year and felt urged to do so myself. I usually don't make resolutions, then I'm not stressed to complete them. However, I have two unfinished projects that I'm going to push myself to get done - a shawl and the granddaughter's sweater. In fact, I'm getting the sweater out today to see where I went wrong. It's a top-down raglan and this person read the pattern wrong (I know, hard to believe isn't it), but after ripping back, I'm having trouble doing the raglan seam area. If I can't figure it out, I'll take it to my knitting meet-up this Saturday.

I went to my physical therapist and podiatrist both yesterday, and got released from all further treatment on my foot. I've had 2 major surgeries and then plantar fasciitis all on my left foot and have spent 3 years with not much walking, exercise, etc. So after jumping with joy, I was able to go out and walk around the block today - a big event for me. Now, I'll just need to keep increasing my distance and get up to walking several miles a day. Can hardly believe I'm done with therapy!!!!!
